Chester's Pumpkinator

overview //

After the success of Chester's Eggerator, an animated HTML site, Frito Lay and The Marketing Arm wanted to create Chester's Pumpkinator to promote their new "Bag of Bones." This time, however, we decided to give the Eggerator framework an upgrade for it's Pumpkinator reincarnation. Initially, the Eggerator was hand built with a create.js and GSAP animation foundation, using a workflow starting and animating in Flash (yes, that Flash) and then exporting appropriate JSON data and corresponding assets for implementation in javascript/GSAP. For the Pumpkinator however, we threw Phaser (a javascript game engine) under the hood with a GSAP twist for a boost in rendering speed, animation and particle emitter power. This time, using Phaser as our engine we could optimize assets, animation, and create custom particle emitters to breathe even more life into Chester's robotic operation. We created several internal IK and emitter creative tools to achieve the level of animation needed.
